SHIP
Smart rainwater management solves more problems in the cities
Water and architecture enrich each other
Arkitema Architects was responsible for the overall planning of SHIP, and they managed to let water and architecture enrich each other. Besides the stunning view from the balconies of the apartments towards the marina, the unique and wavy architectural style highlights the close relation to the harbor.

An attractive green, living area
In addition to the sea, large and beautiful courtyards are made in the middle of the housing block – sheltered from the wind and filled with green oases and space for play and activities.
Every part of the new area is made with high-quality materials to make SHIP as exclusive as possible and to maintain an attractive and recreational area far in the future.

Threshold channel for the buildings
The SHIP building is a new residential construction with stringent demands for stormwater diversion, aeration and level-free access as well as a minimum 150 mm free plinth height. We installed Canyon (Milford DK, NO, ENG), our threshold channel with an infiltration function, around the buildings to solve these requirements.
The system provides optimal ventilation of the foundation while ensuring easy access for inspections and repairs. The channels are made of stainless steel – a long-lasting and robust material that can withstand wind and bad weather coming from the sea.

Accessible for everyone
The channel enables level-free access all around the building and to the terraces. The gratings also meet all requirements for mesh size, making them suitable for guide dogs and wheelchair users.
From a universal design perspective, the new area SHIP is an easily accessible residential area where everyone can live.
